Milan, 20 June 2018 - The international jury of the 25th ADI Golden Compass Award gave prestigious Honourable Mention to the yacht Tango WallyCento#4. The award ceremony was held today in Milan in the Rocchetta Courtyard in the Sforza Castle [Castello Sforzesco], where Tango WallyCento#4 and all the products participating in the 25th edition of the Award will be featured in an exhibit open to the publicfrom 21 to 26 June.
Established in 1954 by La Rinascente, the ADI Golden Compass Award is bestowed on the basis of a preselection made by the ADI Permanent Observatory of Design. The recognition has created the largest historical design collection and in 2004 it was declared an "asset of national heritage" (Ministerial Decree [D.M.] 22.04.2004) by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. From today on, WallyCento#4 will enhance the collection, joining the other products awarded during the Golden Compass Award's 64 years of history.
The success of the WallyCento#4 Fuoriserie yacht is the fruit of a close collaboration of the best in the business: Italian boatyard Persico Marine, innovation leader Wally, naval architect Mark Mills and the Pininfarina Nautical division.
"We are very satisfied with this cruising superyacht. Tango weights only 47.5 tons, thanks to the optimization of the entire craft from the start of the project. Specifically, we worked hard to lightweight every part of the boat, not only by working on the main composite structure but also on the interiors, by using carbon fibre and veneered Nomex sandwich panels and developing ultralight solutions to do the hinging and veneering, for instance,"Marcello Persico, CEO of Persico Marine, stated.
"Receiving such a prestigious recognition gives me great pride and attests to the quality work of a real team of excellence in the nautical sector," Paolo Pininfarina, president of the Pininfarina Group, affirmed. "Our objective was to be innovators once again, by merging aesthetics and function, exalting both aspects. Every detail is the product of obsessive research, and the result is a true Fuoriserie of the sea – both elegant and ultraperforming, which will set a new benchmark in this field."
"Tango is the boat we wanted to achieve when be began to develop this design: extremely clean lines and an aggressive look that expresses its high-performance DNA," Luca Bassani, president di Wally, emphasized.
